he's a brave little fella

My son is totally cruising around the coffee table, letting go and then taking one step.  I know we have a long way to go before he's walking but oh dear, he's only 8 months old.  Someone send help please.

pondering television

Julianna just asked me if the person next door turned on their TV right now would they see the same thing that is on her TV right now.  Pretty good question I thought.  Just add it to the list I guess.

Happy Father's Day!

He taught me how to shuffle a deck of cards, he came to my rescue when I had my first flat tire a mile from my high school, he read the paper in the passenger seat without saying a word about my heavy breaking and gas-pedal pushing while I drove to school with only my permit, he made me always carry a twenty dollar bill in my sock in case of emergencies, he told me The Bear Skunk River until he had to have been sick to death of it, and now he walks my daughter to the pier and to feed the ducks every single trip to the beach and he takes my son for walks around the neighborhood every chance he gets.

I love you, Dad!  I enjoyed getting to eat breakfast with you this morning before you left for work.  Even amongst the chaos.  Happy Father's Day!

Is this OK or is it wrong?

Hubby just gave me $2.81 to go get a cup of coffee since that's how much he remembered it being. When I got there I set the money on the counter (since I was holding Josh and he kept grabbing at it) and I ordered a tall coffee.  The man said, "It's $2.76" and started picking up my money.  I replied, "Oh, I brought too much then. My husband said it was $2.81."  But the man kept all of the money and said, "Thank you."

Would anyone else find anything odd about this or is it just me?

Eating at Planet Hollywood

Since Julianna was just a little girl she has wanted to go eat at Planet Hollywood here at the beach.  Tonight she finally got to do just that.  I think at first she was impressed but soon it lost it's thrill.  She decided before we left that she never wanted to "go there again" because she didn't like the looks of the Arnold Schwarzenegger mannequin from Terminator.  Oh well.  We tried.

Of all of these things...

The prize that she wants is the army man. Go figure.

Arcade at 8 am? Sure! Why not?

She LOVES this game.  Pap gave her a few dollars to come down here and play it and she has thoroughly enjoyed it.  But since when did it cost $1 for three tokens and 3 tokens = ONE GAME?!  I remember when bread only cost $0.79 and a cheeseburger at McDonald's .... Man, I'm old.

she really does want to be an artist when she grows up

Yesterday at lunch Julianna wanted to take a couple of her cubes of cheese and make a trail out of the house to "get the mice out."  This idea, I suppose, is a direct result of watching too many Tom and Jerry videos.  Nevertheless, we tried to rationalize with her and ask her if she thought that might make mice from OUTSIDE come INSIDE instead.

When she couldn't be convinced we asked her to just go draw a picture of a mouse trap that she might make to catch the mice.  Daddy tried to teach her the word blueprint and asked her to design a cool way to catch mice.  So she ran off and got to work.

When she came back this is the picture she showed us:

She said, "This is me catching a mouse. I know you might think I look like an alien but that's really my nose not three eyeballs."

I LOVE that child.
