haiku

Spring break is zumba,
running at Salem Lake and
beautiful weather.

Spring break is riding
bikes along the greenway with
family tonight.

Spring break is Easter
egg hunts, cutting the grass and
pizza with our friends.

Spring break is pollen,
painting toenails while kids bathe.
It's finally here!

(mostly) links i love

If you're thinking about having a party for anything anytime soon, then you should probably avoid this website altogether.  Because if you go to Polka Dot Market and look around, you won't leave without coming up with a reason to have a party.

-----

Zulily - similar to the daily deals sites that are popping up everywhere but Zulily has lots of stuff tailored to moms and there are usually at least seven or eight pages of products for sale.  Really cute stuff.

-----

I don't know. Maybe it's just me, but I tend to think this is pretty nasty.  Chewable Jewelry

-----

Lastly, I wish I had a link to share for this one, but it's a question rather.  Does anyone know of a website that basically serves to hold you accountable towards a goal or something like that?  I used to use a site that you pledged money towards your goal and if you were successful you got the money back and if not you donated the money to a charity or to an individual.  I can't remember what it was called and I'm too lazy to look for it not.

Anyway, that's not really what I'm looking for this time.  I use sparkpeople.com to track my food intake and exercise, but I'd like something that sends me reminders or whatnot if I don't log in one day, or a site that somehow or in some other fashion holds me accountable.  Do any of you use something like this?  I've searched for hours and can't really find what I'm looking for.

stories

When the kids and I were standing waiting for the family locker room to open up at the Y, I was holding Josh the whole time and I felt him squeeze his abs and then I felt him start peeing on me and I said, "Josh! Are you going pee pee?!" and he said, "Uh-huh" and giggled.  Silly boy.

At the playground the other day Julianna said, "I was the first winner, Josh was the middle winner, and you were the loser winner, Mama."

-----

As I was changing Joshua's diaper not long ago his boy bits became a little, er how should I put this? rigid?  stiff?  (IknowIknow, Ican'tbelieveI'mwritingthisontheinternet!) Julianna of course, picked that precise moment to look over and then comment, "Part of Joshua's hiney has grown."

financial update

I've talked a lot here before about wanting to save up money for a nice vacation and quite honestly, I don't know why I didn't start doing this earlier.  My goal was to save $300 a month for the entire year and keep it in a separate savings account. Somehow I've managed to do just that.

Actually I have about $150 extra. Yay me!  It's only April and I have saved just short of $1350.  That's a quarter of the year to save 37.5% of my vacation fund goal.

I've set my student loan payment amounts to draft into that savings account as each year of debt is paid off so that's money that I don't even miss because I'm used to paying it each month.  Then I've also been depositing any additional cash I get throughout the month immediately into that account.  It's getting harder and harder to find extra cash, but I'm still managing to somehow stay on track with my goal of $300 a month.

I should have $3600 by the end of the year and I am excited.  I wish it were easier to save, but I know that that vacation is going to be well worth every penny.
