We went to two birthday parties this weekend. At one of them Julianna got to make her own stuffed animal owl and then stamp her handprint on the studio wall. There were at least 15 happy little girls at the party.
At the other party, we celebrated with cousins and a giant butterfly cake made out of adorable mini cupcakes. Then the birthday girl shared some of her presents and the kids enjoyed a little coloring which has recently become one of Josh's favorite things to do.
reading:
Not long ago I finished reading Room by Emma Donoghue. I thought it was a really good book although I don't want to say more about it than that.
Now I've been tackling One Day by David Nicholls and also The Ten Year Nap by Meg Wolitzer. I'm not far enough into either one to share an opinion yet, but if you want a book recommendation you should go read Room.

For my birthday my dear sister and brother-in-law gave Jonathan and I tickets to go see the Zac Brown Band at LJVM. It was fantabulous! There are not many people in the world that can make such beautiful music and it was such a good show. I'm getting old and haven't been to many concerts in the last few years, but this one was easily one of the best shows I've been to. Hands down. LOVE ZBB! Thanks, Whit!

We've had some crazy weather lately for NC. Snow at the very end of March and tornadoes in early April... but the last few days have been very nice. We've been spending a few minutes here and there outside whenever we get the chance. Today we went on a pretty awesome family bike ride down the greenway. Julianna is getting to be a pretty decent bike rider and she handled hills, gravel, dogs on the path, other walkers/riders, etc on our 2.5 mile ride. She's also gotten to be a really sweet big sister. She's been driving Josh around in her old Barbie Jeep and she's been helping him learn to ride the tricycle. She really is a great big sister.
