let me tell you what i had to eat yesterday

Yesterday I ate the following:

a Fiber One Oats and Chocolate Bar
cup of coffee
bowl of vegetable soup
hamburger and fries from McDonald's
two brownies

No, certainly not the most nutritious day I've had lately.  Definitely, could have done better.  But I had plenty.  I didn't go hungry at all.  I had more than what 1 out of every 7 people in the world have to eat.  One child dies from hunger-related causes every five seconds.  Five, people.

Last week the social worker at my school sent out an imploring email to all of our staff begging for food to be brought in for a family in our school.  Here.  In our town.

I don't know about you but I can't imagine not having a refrigerator with nothing in it.  Or a pantry not filled with cans of soup and veggies, bags of rice and chips, fruit on my counter.  Or not being able to let my children eat their banana on the spot in the grocery store.

Next Sunday, some friends and I will be walking in our local CROP Walk to help stamp out hunger locally and all over the world.  If you feel blessed and you have any number of dollars to spare, please click here to donate.

A young girl in the USA says, When you are hungry, you can’t think of anything else.

Our school just sent out an email today asking kids to bring in canned goods for the local food pantry. So sad to think of kids in the richest country in the world going hungry!
